(Updated: November 4, 2011) On November 19, 2011 Haiku Funeral will be performing in Christiania, Denmark at the Borneteater with the Balkan metal group Heimat. The event is being organized by Hikikomori Records.
On Halloween night of 2011 Hass Wegg Productions released a split CD of black metal featuring Corpus Diavolis and Total Satan. Dimitar, Corpus Diavolis's vocalist and my partner in Haiku Funeral, asked me to add some ambient bass parts to the Corpus tracks on this extreme metal release. For more details, see the Discography page. ![]() I'd like to offer profound thanks to the 400+ people who attended/participated in the Paul Kopecky Memorial Concert, which occured on October 22, 2011 (Paul's 40th birthday) at Mixer's Lounge in Racine, Wisconsin. The concert was a celebration of my late brother Paul's exceptional musical talent. (Paul passed away in 2009 due to complications resulting from juvenile diabetes.) Several excellent bands dedicated their time and talent to making this an incredible event: Lyden Moon, Fibonacci Sequence, SypderxXx, Far Corner, and Secret Society of Starfish. And then Kopecky took the stage. On three tracks my brother Joe and I were joined by special guests: Jeff and Chris (keys and drums for Secret Society of Starfish) on "Bartholomew's Kite," Dan Jung (drums for Lyden Moon) on "Sky-Blue Hair," and Craig, Angie, and Dan (drums, cello, and keys for Far Corner) on "Selket's Kiss." Then we brought Paul's drum kit onstage and Joe and I performed "Moontown," "Eden's Flow," and "Autumn Swirl" along with Paul's drum tracks while images of him were projected onto a screen behind us. Wow. It was the most emotional show I've ever played. The show was recorded and filmed so check back for videos (and maybe CD release info?) soon. ![]() Please visit the Paul Kopecky Tribute site and send a friends request or post a comment. To see photos of the event, visit The Celtic Camera or the KOPECKY Site. Under The Influence, the new CD from the excellent Flyin' Ryan Brothers has just been released by Grooveyard Records, a NY-based label that specializes in releasing the work of virtuoso guitarists. To my ears its their most mature and melodic work to date. For more info please visit my Discography page. The music is still dark as hell but this time around the music is more composed and ass-kicking and perhaps a bit less ambient in the overall feel. Nightmare Painting is the final release in our unholy trinity which began with our first two releases: Assassination in the Hashish Cathedral and If God Is A Drug. Check back for release info; it should be available in late autumn of 2011. ![]() I was recently interviewed on Outsight Radio Hours by DJ Tom Sculte. We discussed the latest releases by Yeti Rain and Haiku Funeral, and he aired tracks from the new discs as well as tracks by Far Corner and Snarling Adjective Convention. The interview has been archived and can be listened to here, along with a few previous interviews I've done on Outsight. You can listen to it here. Time Mirror, the new CD from the Par Lindh Project is now (finally) available! This is the group's first studio recording in ten years, and is, in my opinion, the best. The core of PLP on Time Mirror is Par Lindh (keyboards), vocalist/drummer Al Lewis (of Starcastle fame), and me (basses). The disc also features guest performances by many excellent Swedish musicians including the Villberga Choir. Die-hard PLP fans should find plenty to like about the new CD as we have carried on the PLP tradition of complex, classically-inspired prog, but the production is much stronger than the group's previous releases. We plan to tour extensively to support the record beginning in late spring/early summer so check back for tour dates. ![]() Yeti Rain's new CD III is now available! The big news is that we've expanded from a duo to a trio, adding Craig Walkner (Far Corner, Snarling Adjective Convention, Justin Black & Big Heart) on acoustic and electronic drums. Like our second CD Nest of Storms, III was released on the Crimsonic label from Sweden. For more details, please see the DISCOGRAPHY page. ![]() I've been playing quite a lot in France with Lunar Fugue, an instrumental trio consisting of myself, guitarist Alex Brachet, and Max Guerin on drums. We primarily play covers of virtuoso rock guitarists (Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, John Petrucci, etc) but we play original instrumentals as well and are working on our debut CD. For our live schedule, and to see videos of the band in action, please visit our myspace site: www.myspace.com/lunarfugue. Here's a video of LF performing Steve Vai's "For the love of God": |
